Get to know our pastors and staff

After meeting as high school sweethearts, Pastor Dan and Chris Pelletier have now been married for more than 40 years.  During those years God blessed them with an adopted daughter who is now married to a fine young man.  Their grandson is an added blessing! 

While the Pelletiers grew up in farming communities in Illinois, God prepared them to serve in a variety of ministries.  Together they have served in youth and music ministry, Christian schools, radio ministry, Christian camping, and the pastorate.  Their adventures have taken them to North Carolina, to Guam and Micronesia, to Canada, and to countries in Southeast Asia.  They have also served in the Midwestern states of Wisconsin, Missouri, and Indiana.  For a short time they even served in New Hampshire.   It has been their privilege to touch many lives for Christ along the way and to develop friendships across the country and around the world; but they are most at home in California. 

Pastor Dan earned his B.A. in Church Administration and Camp Work from Bob Jones University in 1983 and his M.A. in Pastoral Studies from Heart of America Theological Seminary in 2001.  He serves on the board of Foundations Baptist Fellowship International and is the Regional Coordinator for California.

While Chris is our pastor's partner in every sense of the word, she works in the Financial District for a national computer company as a skilled Office Manager with a B.A. in Secretarial Administration from Pensacola Christian College.  Mrs. Pelletier works in Human Resources for her company and has recently earned an aPHR certification.  

At church, Chris teaches Sunday School, sings in the choir, co-leads the Women's Ministry with Karen Maalona, the church's administrative assistant, and manages the church's hospitality committee by preparing guest rooms at the church for visiting preachers and missionaries when they come to minister inour church in this fair city.

The Pelletiers' ministry in California began in 2004 at a Christian camp.  God then moved them to Hamilton Square at the end of 2008 where Pastor Dan gladly served under Dr. David Innes as Associate Pastor. In February 2022 the church voted him in as their Senior Pastor.  Love for the Word of God and the people of San Francisco make it evident that the Lord has prepared and called this couple to serve our church and this great city.

Pastor Brian Kelly began as Assistant Pastor in July 1998 and became Associate Pastor in 2004. He received his B.S. in Communications and M.S.Ed. in Family Counseling from Old Dominion University.  He earned his Doctor of Religious Education degree from Tabernacle Baptist Seminary. 

He faithfully serves as the church bookkeeper and network administrator.  He directs the counseling ministries, couples fellowship, and teaches the Berean Bible study class on Sunday mornings. Pastor Kelly also leads the church choir and coordinates the song leaders for church worship services.  An avid student, he most recently earned a Masters degree in Classical Voice and Opera at San Francisco State University, studying voice under Jeannette Sacco-Belli, Raymond Gibbs, Nicholas Nackley and Christine Brandes. 

His wife Deborah is a Senior Litigation Paralegal at a law firm in the Financial District.  She serves in the choir and assists with programs and musical groups. She serves in many other places in various church ministries including coordinating our weekly Lunch and Mingle Fellowship.  Deb is also a published author of historical novels.

When not busy with church or school, Pastor Kelly enjoys traveling with his wife to tropical islands, exploring European cities, playing the piano and guitar, attending the S.F. Symphony and Opera, and listening to clean comedy.

The ministry of these two talented and dynamic individuals continues to bless our our pastor and our congregation after more than 25 years of faithful service at Hamilton Square Baptist Church.

Dr. David C. Innes served the congregation of the Hamilton Square Baptist Church as its senior pastor from 1977 to 2022. After forty-five years as Senior Pastor, Pastor Innes stepped into the position of Pastor Emeritus. He is thrilled to be working under the leadership of Pastor Pelletier and continues to bless our congregation as he ministers at Hamilton Square with great enthusiasm.

He was educated at Bob Jones University, receiving his B.A. in 1961, and later his Bachelor of Divinity (B.D.), an honorary Doctor of Divinity (D.D.), and Doctor of Laws (L.L.D.) degrees.  Before moving to San Francisco he helped start a church in North Carolina more than 50 years ago, served as an associate pastor and later as a Senior Pastor in Southern California.  Altogether, he has more than 60 years of pastoral and ministry experience.  

Using that wealth of wisdom, Pastor Innes assists Pastor Pelletier in the pulpit ministry and in whatever capacity possible.  He also travels to encourage the pastors of California to stand firm on the Word of God. His in-depth study and seminars on Biblical Fundamentalism serve as a great asset to other pastors and His rich knowledge and practical application of the Scriptures.  If your church or ministry would benefit from this experience, please contact us for more information.

Pastor Innes serves on the board of Foundations Baptist Fellowship International and the advisory board of International Baptist Missions.

He has four children, four grandsons, four granddaughters, and five great-grandchildren.

Karen started attending Hamilton Square Baptist Church in 1993 and became the church's administrative assistant in February of 2021. 

She met her husband, Donald at HSBC and they have one son. She and her husband have faithfully served in many facets of the ministry. Apart from her responsibilities in the church office,  Karen is a member of the choir, co-leads the Women's Ministry with our pastor's wife, heads up the Food and Decorating Committee, and is the church Wedding Coordinator. In her spare time, Karen loves to bake, to plan events, do crafts and to shop!

Roberto “Bobby” Elep has served us in an outstanding way as property manager of Hamilton Square since 2011. He successfully keeps our building and premises spotless and orderly, both inside and out. He also oversees the maintenance, repairs, and painting of church facilities and property.

Bobby sets up for church events, serves as an usher for worship services, and keeps the “waste management” in order.  In San Francisco this is no small task! 

Besides all this, he preaches in the church services from time to time when our pastor is away.  

Bobby is married to his dear wife Susana who works in food services for San Francisco State University. They have four lovely daughters and proudly enjoy two grandchildren.
